Barcelona Motel - Taupo

I really liked the cozy feel of the hotel's decoration. The vintage furniture and warm colors made me feel right at home. The general areas were always tidy and well maintained, which was important for me as a senior. The accessibility for senior people was excellent, with handrails and ramps in place to make it easy to navigate around the hotel. It was a relief to know that the children working there were attentive and always ready to assist me if needed.

I would have appreciated a more spacious bathroom.

Very central and convenient when you have travelled a very long way. Very close to grocery store to buy last minute items.Perfect location

Location was great, 5 Min walk into town. Room was big and had a sofa which makes a great difference, so many motels have nowhere to sit apart from the bed. The owner/manager was very polite and friendly and upgraded us to a premier room, which was a lovely gesture.

The room was cold on arrival and took some time to work out how to work the heater, but once this was resolved was very toasty until you opened the bathroom door, the room obviously needs insulation, but this wouldn't stop me from visiting again.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The location was great, with shops within walking distance. It offered excellent value for money for my family of three adults and a teenager. The rooms were comfortable and clean, which was exactly what we needed. The staff were friendly and attentive to detail, with nicely displayed towels and folded toilet rolls.

All was satisfactory.

definitely good location. I was living there for taupo half marathon, just walked 5 minutes from my bedroom to the start line. actually you can walk to most avenues in taupo within 10 minutes from barcelona motel. the owner is a nice guy and gave us free upgrade to the premium room. the room is spacious and we were offered an extra heater when I mentioned chilly weather in taupo. but it was proved unnecessary. the heater in room is already warm enough.

Good value for money, appreciated the morning paper

The Barcelona Motel was clean and tidy with smart bedding and new curtains. It's located close to the centre - so we had supermarkets and restaurants nearby. The motel was great value for money - especially for our family of five. We also enjoyed the outside facilities - like the park - which kept the kids entertained. Oh, and the beds were amazingly comfy!

Can't recommend highly enough.

Caused an inconvenience to the Barcelona Hotel by losing the room key. The hotel staff were very helpful, and were very understanding with the loss of the room key.

It had everything we neeed, was warm and freindly and inexpensive

Rooms was a little stale smelling but nothing really bad

This hotel has a great location right in the heart of town, close to shops and restaurants. The staff are super friendly and provide great service. The rooms come equipped with a basic kitchenette which is really handy, especially for those on a budget.

Although there is some minor wear and tear in the rooms, it doesn't take away from the overall pleasant experience of staying at this hotel.

Only one night so price was the main reason for booking

Only a small old 3 bar heater to heat the rooms! This was not really adequate. The room was cold and drafty. The shower whilst very hot and powerful. The window was partly inside the actual shower area so privacy was an issue, especially at night as the windows only had obscure glass!!

The owner was very friendly and the motel was in a good location - very close to supermarkets and town centre.

We stayed in the two storey family apartment and since we stayed there during winter it was a bit cold as it only had one heater downstairs. It could have done with a better heater or maybe a heater upstairs. Also, although the internet was free (which was great) it was intermittent.

Christmas decorations were lovely and the pool was clean. There was free Wi-Fi and a small kitchenette available which was a nice touch. the location was close to the town center and lakeside, making it easy to access restaurants and activities.

The overall experience was quite disappointing. the room was dirty with hair in the shower and stained toilet seats.

The location was excellent, with easy access to the lake and nearby restaurants. The staff was helpful and accommodating, providing us with extra towels upon request. The room was cozy and warm, with a comfortable bed and a functional TV.

The room was a bit outdated and could use a renovation, particularly the bathroom. The walls were thin, and we could hear noise from neighboring rooms throughout the night.

Great location right in town. Pleasant staff.

Very old decor (circa. 1960s). Bed looked very old and used. Cold. Wi-fi apparently included but no signal to my room (far rooms currently not covered).
